    These answers explain how FX manages quality from development and sample approval through material inspection, production control, laboratory verification, and final shipment.

    Stage 1

    First Inquiry

    Project route alignment before sampling starts.

    When is new tooling required?

    New tooling is generally required for new molded products, significant shape changes, new support structures, or components that cannot be produced using existing molds or die-cut tooling.

    Can FX suggest substitute materials if our first choice misses cost or performance targets?

    Yes. FX can review substitute foams, top covers, adhesives, or support components when the original selection does not meet performance, appearance, cost, or manufacturing requirements. Recommendations consider the intended application, manufacturing feasibility, and production consistency. Any proposed substitute should be resampled against the agreed approval criteria.

    Stage 2

    Sample Approval

    The chosen sample becomes a controlled production reference.

    How long does sample development usually take?

    Sample lead time depends on the development route and project complexity. Projects using existing tooling can often be completed within 3-7 working days, while new tooling or material validation projects typically require 2-4 weeks, depending on tooling, material availability, and approval cycles. The expected timeline is confirmed during project review.

    What belongs in the golden sample approval record?

    The approval record should include the material grade, construction, dimensions, hardness or density target, approved appearance, top cover, logo application, packaging, tolerances, visual acceptance criteria, and market-specific requirements.

    How are sample revisions controlled during development?

    Each sample revision is documented with a version code, revision date, material specification, construction details, tooling status where applicable, and a clear description of changes from the previous sample. This helps all parties review development progress using the same reference.

    Incoming Material Control

    Incoming materials are checked before release to production.

    How are incoming materials checked before production?

    Incoming materials are inspected before release to production. Depending on the material, inspections may include color, surface texture, thickness, hardness, density, weight, printing quality, logo appearance, and visible defects. Materials requiring performance verification are sampled and verified by the laboratory before production release, following the agreed test requirements for the project.

    Which materials require laboratory verification before use?

    Laboratory verification depends on the project requirements and customer specifications. Performance materials such as EVA, supercritical foams, ETPU, PU, and other functional foam components are commonly verified before production. Typical evaluations include density, hardness, rebound resilience, compression set, shrinkage, tensile strength, tear strength, elongation, or other agreed validation items.

    Stage 4

    Production QC & Lab Verification

    Inspection and laboratory verification work together to support production quality.

    What is checked before and during bulk production?

    First-article approval is completed before full production begins. The approved sample is connected to an approved specification, material batch information, production site, and QC limits. Production inspections then include in-process checks, mold verification where applicable, material batch confirmation, and appearance and performance checks for consistency with the approved sample.

    Are production batches laboratory tested?

    Yes. Batch verification follows the agreed customer or project quality plan. Testing frequency may vary depending on customer requirements, production volume, and risk level. Verification may include density, hardness, rebound resilience, compression set, tensile strength, tear strength, elongation, shrinkage, or other agreed validation items.

    What should a buyer-facing lab report include?

    A useful lab report should identify the sample or batch, material specification, construction, production site, test date, method, result, tolerance, and approval status. It should also state whether the result supports approval, comparison, or defect investigation.

    When should we add third-party testing?

    Third-party testing is added when a retailer, importer, buyer program, restricted-substance scope, neutral dispute review, or nominated reporting format requires external evidence beyond FX in-house checks.

    Stage 5

    Final Inspection & Shipment

    Finished goods are verified before shipment.

    How are finished goods inspected before shipment?

    Finished goods are inspected against the approved specification, visual standards, dimensions, packaging requirements, and agreed sampling plan before shipment. Products are released only after inspection records and required quality documents are verified.

    Can customers arrange their own pre-shipment inspection?

    Yes. Customers may arrange pre-shipment inspections with prior coordination. Customer representatives or appointed third-party inspection agencies may conduct inspections at the production site before shipment. FX conducts final inspection based on the AQL 2.5 sampling standard unless customer requirements specify otherwise. Relevant quality documents, inspection results, and product samples can be provided to support the inspection process.

    Stage 6

    Regional Production and Change Control

    Controlled transfers and changes help maintain production consistency.

    Can a component developed in China move to Vietnam or Indonesia?

    Yes. Once tooling, material specifications, and production readiness are confirmed, most footwear components can be transferred between qualified FX manufacturing locations. Additional sampling or verification may be required when project specifications, materials, or customer requirements differ.

    What does a regional transfer review cover?

    The transfer review covers tooling location, material availability, process route, schedule, packaging standard, production-site QC gates, and whether a new sample or lab report is required before release.

    Which changes usually lead to resampling or retesting?

    Change control applies when foam density, material grade, top cover, adhesive, mold, support part, logo method, packaging, production site, market requirement, or process setup changes after approval.

    How should visible defects be handled during development?

    Pinholes, haze, wrinkles, exposed edges, edge damage, surface contamination, color migration, delamination, color mismatch, bonding marks, or logo issues are compared with the golden sample and agreed visual limits. The next action may be rework, resampling, tolerance clarification, or process adjustment.

    What happens if QC finds an exception before shipment?

    The project team should decide whether to hold, rework, resample, or approve by exception using photos, measurements, lab results, and comparison with the approved sample. Non-conforming products are isolated until the disposition decision is completed.

    Samples & Customization

    How Can I Get Samples? Are They Free?

    Please contact us by email to request samples. The first sample is provided free of charge; shipping costs are borne by the customer.

    How Do You Ship a Sample?

    Samples are usually shipped by air via DHL, FedEx, UPS, or TNT.

    Orders & Production

    What Is the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?

    Our standard MOQ is 500 pairs. Flexibility may be considered depending on product complexity and project requirements.

    What Is the Production Lead Time?

    Lead times vary depending on order type and production location:

    Standard stock items:

    – 3–5 business days within China

    – 7–15 business days for shipments from Vietnam or Indonesia (subject to customs clearance)

    Custom orders:

    – Sample lead time: approximately 15 days

    – Mass production: 30–45 days for orders below 500,000 pairs

    What Is the Standard Packaging for Your Products?

    We typically use cartons and transparent PE bags for standard packaging. Customized packaging solutions are also available upon request.

    How Do You Guarantee Product Quality?

    We implement strict quality assurance and quality control standards to ensure all products meet your requirements. Inspections are conducted based on agreed specifications, and third-party testing reports can be provided upon request. Samples are also available for customer testing prior to shipment.

    Do You Have the Products in Stock?

    Most of our products are manufactured to order. However, limited stock may be available for standard items.

    Orders are fulfilled from our manufacturing facilities in China, Vietnam, and Indonesia, with the shipping origin selected to optimize delivery speed and cost.

    How Is Shipping Cost Calculated?

    Shipping costs are calculated based on the shipping method, order volume, weight, and destination. Please contact us with your order details for an accurate shipping quote.

    What Shipping Methods Do You Offer?

    We primarily provide sea freight and air freight for international orders. LTL and other options are available for regional or domestic deliveries.

    Which Shipping Method Should I Choose?

    For regular orders, sea freight is generally more cost-effective, with transit times of 15–30 days. For small or urgent orders, air freight provides faster delivery within 5–7 days.

    We offer various shipping terms, including Door-to-Door, FOB, and CIF, depending on customer requirements.

    What Kinds of Payment Methods Do You Accept?

    We primarily accept Telegraphic Transfer (T/T). A 30% deposit is required in advance, with the remaining 70% balance payable before shipment.
